Low-Cost Mixed Candy Packing Machine with One 14-Head Weigher

A lower-investment VFFS packing line for four-candy assortments. Four vibratory feeders premix the candies before one 5 L 14-head multihead weigher controls the total bag weight. This project packs 907 g portions into 300 mm-wide bags at about 30 bags per minute, with approximately ±2 g total weighing accuracy.

Description

This packing line is designed for factories that need four candy types to be distributed relatively evenly while maintaining an accurate total net weight. Instead of weighing the four candies independently, the system combines them before they enter one multihead weigher.

Four vibratory feeders supply the candies simultaneously to a shared steep-incline conveyor. The combined product then enters a 5 L 14-head multihead weigher, which prepares the complete 907 g portion. A 620 vertical form fill seal machine forms, fills and seals the 300 mm-wide bag.

Using one multihead weigher reduces the number of weighing sections, discharge devices and control components required. This makes the system a lower-cost option when accurate total weight is necessary but an exact quantity or percentage of every candy is not.

This configuration is different from Smartpack’s multi-channel mixture candy packing line. The multi-channel system weighs each candy separately and is intended for recipes that require precise component control.

Core Features

This mixed candy packing machine focuses on reducing equipment investment while retaining accurate total-weight control. It is intended for general candy assortments rather than fixed four-component recipes.

Lower Investment with One Weighing System

All four candies are combined before weighing, allowing one standard 14-head multihead weigher to handle the complete portion.

Compared with independent component weighing, this structure requires fewer weighing sections, collection devices and recipe controls. It also reduces the size and complexity of the support platform.

The lower cost comes from simplifying the weighing process, not from reducing the accuracy of the final bag weight.

Four-Feeder Premixing

Each candy type has its own vibratory feeder. The four feeders operate simultaneously and release the products into one shared conveyor.

Feeding rates can be adjusted during product testing to improve the average distribution of the four candies. However, the feeders do not weigh or verify the amount of each candy in an individual bag.

Stable refilling is important. If one feeder runs empty or its output changes, the composition of the following bags may also change.

Simpler Operation and Maintenance

Using one weighing system means fewer hoppers, discharge paths and control settings for operators to manage.

The simpler structure can also reduce:

  • Cleaning time
  • Recipe setup work
  • Spare-parts requirements
  • Routine inspection points
  • Maintenance workload

This is especially useful when the factory mainly produces one general four-candy assortment and does not require frequent precision recipe changes.

FAQ

1. Can this machine guarantee the same amount of each candy in every bag?

No. The machine controls the combined total weight of all four candies.

The four vibratory feeders help create a relatively even product stream, but the system does not weigh or verify each candy separately. Some bag-to-bag variation should be expected.

If each bag must contain a fixed weight or percentage of every candy, use an independent mixture candy weighing and packing line.

2. Why does this mixed candy packing machine cost less?

The four candies are premixed before weighing, so the line only requires one 14-head multihead weigher and one shared discharge path.

A precise ratio-control system must keep the candies separate and weigh each product independently. This requires more weighing sections, controls and collection equipment.

3. What does the ±2 g accuracy refer to?

It refers to the total weight of the complete 907 g mixed-candy portion.

It does not mean that every candy type is controlled within ±2 g. For example, a finished bag may meet the total-weight tolerance while containing slightly more of one candy and less of another.

4. Can the four feeders be adjusted to change the mixture?

Yes. The feeding rate of each vibratory feeder can be adjusted to influence the average mixture entering the shared conveyor.

However, feeder adjustment is not the same as closed-loop ratio control. The machine does not verify whether every finished bag contains an exact 25% of each candy.

5. Will candies with different sizes remain evenly mixed?

That depends on the product.

Candies with large differences in piece weight, size, shape or surface friction may separate during conveying and weighing. Smaller or heavier pieces can move differently from larger or lighter candies.

Smartpack recommends testing all four actual candies together. We will check feeder stability, product separation and the composition of sample bags before confirming this solution.

6. Can the machine pack other target weights and bag sizes?

The system can be adapted for other requirements, but the result must be checked against hopper volume, target speed and the forming set of the VFFS machine.

For a larger portion, the same 5 L weigher may need more discharge cycles, which can reduce packing speed. A different bag width may also require another forming tube or VFFS model.

7. What information is needed before receiving a quotation?

Please provide:

  • Photos and samples of all four candies
  • Dimensions and average piece weight
  • Required average proportion
  • Acceptable variation between finished bags
  • Target bag weight
  • Finished bag width and length
  • Packaging film information
  • Required continuous speed
  • Available ceiling height and floor space

These details allow Smartpack to determine whether the lower-cost premixing system is suitable or whether independent component weighing is required.
